Traffic Analysis Service

IP Networks

IP networks are in a state of constant change making accurate monitoring and controlling of an IP network a difficult challenge. New applications requiring more and more bandwidth are continuously emerging and the network usage of a typical user is never constant. Proactive traffic monitoring and analysis of current and emerging trends can result in substantial savings in network resources.

Gilat's traffic analysis service provides network operators with a complete picture of traffic usage patterns enabling clients to make the correct business decisions. The comprehensive analysis can determine if a client’s available resources (hub equipment and space segment) are adequate for the current level of traffic and how much room there is for growth without making additional changes.

The traffic analysis service provides analysis of VSAT traffic and can detect abnormalities such as RF problems and virus attacks from PCs behind the VSAT. The analysis displays which VSATs have the heaviest traffic in both directions and, for data networks, if the DA mechanism is working properly or needs to be fine-tuned.

Telephony Networks

For telephony networks, the traffic analysis provides valuable information on peak hours, maximum Erlang, and analysis of the termination causes for both answered and unanswered calls. The analysis also detects congestion at the switch level and will give recommendations how to optimize the network configuration (triggers and timers) in order to get the best possible performance.

Traffic Report

As part of the traffic analysis service, clients receive a detailed report including all major findings and future recommendations.

Gilat's traffic analysis service is available to all clients operating a satellite network.
